Services for Children

Sometimes children need a little boost or assistance to help develop their speech, language and social skills. A speech pathologist is qualified to assess and provide therapy to help your little one develop their communication skills and build their confidence.

Our Speech pathologist is a member of Speech Pathology Australia and recognised as a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist.

Stuttering

  • Most Children start stuttering between the ages of 2 and 5 years.

  • The exact cause of stuttering is unknown.

  • Stuttering is more common in boys than girls.

  • If a child already stutters they may stutter more when tired, nervous, angry, when being rushed to express themselves and when trying to be heard over people.

  • Some children may recover naturally without therapy, however this is hard to predict. For this reason it is recommended that you seek advice from a speech pathologist.

  • Research shows that children who receive therapy as a preschooler have better    outcomes than older people.
